Coronado’s Award-Winning Public Schools

There are four public schools in Coronado. Two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and there are also two specialized schools. One of which specializes in the arts and the other is designed for individualized learning. The schools in Coronado are considered some of the very best that San Diego county has to offer. They’ve consistently won awards for academic excellence making them one of the best school districts in the state.

Elementary Schools

Located at 1350 Leyte Road, just half way between the Village of Coronado and the Coronado Cays, Silver Strand Elementary is a top notch public school that educates children ages preschool through 5th grade.

The home of the Explorers! The Village Elementary located at 600 Sixth St. in Coronado Village, is an award winning school that educates children from Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Coronado Middle School, another award winning public school, educates children grades 6th through 8th.  It is located at 550 F Ave..

Ranked as one of the top schools in the whole San Diego County and even throughout the state of California; Coronado High School serves children grades 9th - 12th and  it’s located at 650 D Ave..

CoSA School of the Arts, arts conservatory at Coronado High School offers to educate children from grades 9-12 in dance, film making, music, theater visual arts, and more. The school is not only dedicated to artistic creativity but also academic excellence so students will have a standard curriculum in addition to education in the arts. The school is located at 650 D Ave..

Palm Academy which is an adjunct of Coronado High School, is an alternative education program for high school students that provides a non-traditional educational approach. The academy is located at 555 D Ave..

Community Education & ROP (Regional Occupation Programs)

There are also Community Education and Regional Occupation Programs in the Coronado area that provide adult education, senior classes, and career training programs - offered at Coronado High School.

There are classes in a wide range of fields such as dance, water safety, sailing, photography, computer science, bookkeeping, languages, and many more. They are offered in afternoon and evening classes based on your availability. The classes are held at 650 “D” Ave.

Nursery Schools

The child care center and preschool run by the Coronado Southern Baptist Church accommodates children from 18 months to six years. The facility is located at 111 Orange Ave. The hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church runs a weekday preschool that is located at 940 C Ave. The school has been fondly nicknamed the “Graham Cracker School” by its graduates.
