Find Art Galleries and Studios Near Coronado: Ricardo Vela Gallery

Visit a unique art gallery with a strong voice

Just over the bridge from Coronado! The Ricardo Vela Gallery was created with the idea to exhibit primarily the fine art photography of Ricardo Vela. As time passed by, Ricardo felt that San Diego needed a space to showcase the art work of emerging artists. This concept grew into displaying art work of artists from the San Diego -Tijuana region, and Latin America. Thus far, Ricardo Vela Gallery has become the space where Art and Community merge.

Ricardo Vela Gallery Principles are

1. Emphasizes the importance of art.

The art and the artist should be the focus and take the prominence not the gallery. Every art work should be displayed in an intimate design reflection of the artist's work. Therefore, the gallery will change momentum, shape, and perspective with every show; so the viewer will feel the concept and idea of the artist and his or her work.

2. Promote Artists Professionally.

Artist will work side by side with the gallery to promote not just a single exhibit, but to develop a career. Currently the Ricardo Vela Gallery has three artists in residency.

3. Promote Art in inner city schools.

Art should be presented in every single human being since an early age. It is one of Ricardo Vela Gallery objectives to engage young students into the arts through combined projects with parents, teachers and students. Currently we are in the process of creating the non-for-profit organization "I Kare" to bring art to the classroom and also to educate parents about the importance of the arts in one's life.
