Leave a comment » Fight Global Warming: Coronado Homes
10 Tips to Fight Global Warming in Your Coronado Homes Carbon dioxide is a large contributor to global warming and the greenhouse effect. Try changing some habits in your Coronado homes like reducing the burning of fossil fuels like natural gas, coal, oil and gasoline will help reduce the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. You will reduce your own demand for fossil fuels by using energy more effectively in your Coronado homes by following these few simple tips written by Joel Makower to help reduce global warming.
1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Choose reusable products instead of disposable products. Recycle paper, plastic, newspaper, glass and aluminum cans. If you were to recycle only half of the waste in your household, you would reduce your carbon dioxide output by 2,400 pounds annually. 2. More Conservative Use of Heaters and Air Conditioning You can lower your heating costs more than 25 percent by simply adding insulation to your walls and attic and putting in weather stripping and caulking around doors and windows. This reduces the energy you need to heat and cool your home. 3. Change Your Light Bulbs Try replacing regular light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs or CFL bulbs. CFL bulbs outlast regular bulbs 10 fold and use two-thirds less energy. 4. Drive Less and Drive Smarter Less driving equals lower emissions. Check out options for your town's transit system and carpooling to work or school. 5. Buy Energy-Efficient Products Buy a car that has high fuel efficiency and purchase appliances for your home that are energy-efficient. 6. Preserve Hot Water If your water heater is over 5 years old, wrap it in an insulating blanket. Set the temperature of your water heater to 120 degrees to conserve energy. You can also invest in low-flow showerheads to preserve hot water. 7. Use the "Off" Switch Turn off the lights when you are not in a room, and turn off your television, fans and computer when you're not using them. 8. Conservation Conversation Talk about recycling and energy conservation with your friends, neighbors and co-workers.
These tips will reduce your energy consumption and greenhouse gases and global warming. http://www.coronadorealestatehomes.com/0030FC Posted on May 01, 2008 19:45:31 by Jan Clements
